Experts say that it might be possible that genes play an important role in a few people. Some other studies also conclude that viruses may be the reason for the immune system attack in your pancreas.
Certain factors can put you at high risk of developing diabetes.
You can develop type 1 diabetes if you are young, like a teenager or a child. Having someone in the family with this type of diabetes is a risk factor, such as parents and siblings. There are also certain genes that may develop the disease.
Causes – Type 2 Diabetes
A combination of genetics and many other factors contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes. Studies also explain that being overweight can also increase your risk of developing this type of diabetes. Extra fat in your belly results in more resistance of your cells to the insulin effects on your blood sugar level.
Experts say that type 2 diabetes also runs in families. If someone in your family was overweight, then you are also at risk of getting extra fat. Such genetic reasons can increase the chances of type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes risk increases if you are overweight or older than age 45. Doctors also highlight other factors that contribute, such as less physical activity, prediabetes, high blood pressure, having high triglycerides, having someone in the family with such a condition, etc.
This is the type of diabetes that is developed due to hormonal changes during the pregnancy period. It occurs when the placenta produces hormones that lead to the less sensitive cells in pregnant women. Such sensitivity occurs to the effects of insulin.
